Nick Fury & SHIELD had long become familiar faces in the Captain America series. After the cancellation of his own book, both became regulars in CAPTAIN AMERICA and IRON MAN. While a regular presence around the Marvel Universe, Fury did not get a solo story again until MARVEL SPOTLIGHT #31 (Dec 1976) and a regular series again until Aug 1988, by which time the M.U. had become a much darker, corrupt place.
