Now these covers all strike me as ridiculous and unworthy of the Silver Age to which they belonged...  Hold the mouse over any of the images for my reasons for putting these covers on this page, and/or click on any one for a larger image!
My main objection to this cover is that Reed is tied up, for no apparent reason. Are we expected to believe the monster did it???
Fantastic Four # 1

Jack Kirby
Insects with attitude ... The Hordes of the Scarlet Beetle? Oh, please...
Astonish # 39
Jan 1963
Jack Kirby
Mister Doll, eh? ... well at least he *looks* menacing...
Suspense # 48
Dec 1963
Jack Kirby
Lo, the Eggs Shall Hatch? Well I prefer mine over easy, thanks, but this one just looks scrambled!
Strange Tales # 145
June 1966
Jack Kirby

Avengers # 67
Aug 1969
Sal Buscema
...and this is exactly what I mean. Vizh and Wanda surrounded by gun-toting hoods. It might have been OK on a Western cover, but on The Avengers?? I don't think much of the white background either!
Avengers # 81
Oct 1970
