Steve Ditko

Steve Ditko is possibly my favorite penciler / storyteller.  In fact, I have a separate site devoted to Ditko's work.  This page serves to showcase Ditko's pre-Spidey and post-Spidey work at Marvel, but of course I could hardly put up a Ditko page without including a few Spider-Man covers:

And here are 10 covers Ditko did at Marvel long after the Silver Age was over...
Ditko returned to Marvel in 1979 with a fill-in Hulk cover, featuring Machine Man, whose own series he was to take over almost immediately
Incredible Hulk
# 235
May 1979
Ditko took over on Machine Man from Jack Kirby and immediately produced this stunner
Machine Man
# 10

Aug 1979
Ditko infused Aaron Stack with that same 'misunderstood hero' vibe that Spidey had, and portrayed Machine Man's vulnerability in a way that Kirby never could
Machine Man
# 12

Dec 1979
Ditko's one and only DD cover
Daredevil
# 162
Jan 1980
Captain Marvel made a brief comeback under Ditko
Marvel Spotlight
Vol 2 # 4

Jan 1980
Ditko's second Hulk cover - this time he drew the inside as well
Incredible Hulk

Jul 1980
Captain Universe didn't catch on but it was nice work by Ditko
Marvel Spotlight
Vol 2 # 9

Nov 1980
Ditko's one and only FF cover

Ann. # 16

Somehow one doesn't think 'fun' when one thinks of Ditko but I think Ditko had a lot of fun with this series
Speedball

Speedball had a real 1960's feel and this cover is typical of later Ditko
Speedball
# 9

May 1989
